Aumna Iqbal (Clara) has been hailed as "superb" (Oberon's Grove) in the role of Orfeo with Cantanti Project's L'Euridice performed with Dorian Baroque, Aumna recently performed in concert the Brahms Alto Rhapsody with the AV Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale. Aumna participated in the Bach in the Subways Los Angeles 12 hour Bach Marathon as a soloist in March 2017, and debuted with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2016 in collaboration with The Industry for the world premiere of Nimbus by Rand Steiger at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Aumna has also performed as a soloist or in leading roles wwith Pacific Symphony, Pacific Opera Project, Santa Barbara Master Chorale, Overtone Industries, Center Stage Opera, and Songfest. Roles include Komponist, Carmen, Dorabella, Suzuki, and three world premieres of new works including The Industry's HOPSCOTCH. A capable actor and director, Aumna has performed in Shakespeare plays and has directed a number of operas, including assistant directing Le nozze di Figaro at the historic Sheldonian Theater in Oxford under rising star opera director Max Hoehn. She has also had a taste of being a pop singer, performing onstage with Mika in Los Angeles as part of his 2012-2013 Origins of Love tour. Aumna has been the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, most notably First Prize in the POSA Follman-Young Young Artist Competition and the Anna Haxworth Music Prize, and she was twice a finalist for The American Prize in Opera, as well as a Liebowitz Centennial Fellow at Deutsch Fur Sangern at Middlebury College, and a Milan Panic Jr. Scholarship recipient for OCAVA-in-Rome. Aumna completed a Master of Studies in Musicology from the University of Oxford and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Distinction and Honors) in Music from Stanford University.
